there once was a girl who was covered all in mirrors... (installment number one)
every place of her that would usually be skin had been magically transformed into a soft mirror plate that would reflect all that was around her. at first, this was a fun game. like canaries that peck at their own reflections, the other 4 somethings would delicately poke her mirror skin and she would giggle. every day was a new adventure. sometimes they would play carnival fun house with the mirror girl's skin. the other children would set up such tricks as jumping into hoola hoops and rolling down grass hills to imitate the fun house. at the end of the obstacles the children could see themselves distorted in her mirrors; grotesquely distorted images of themselves, and they would giggle too. the mirror girl would go to her home that evening and tell her mother of all the great tricks the children had played with her mirrors that day. sometimes the children would go swimming and all of the ripples of the pond would reflect in the belly and under the chin of the mirror girl. it was especially fun to watch the mirror girl hide behind a tree, for no child could find her in all of the curiosities of the forest. all of the children took great pleasure in the natural wonders of the world that suddenly changed into magical images when reflected upon the skin of her. as the sun would set, all of the children would return the homes from whence they came and mirror girl would skip along the lane, while the sun set on the backs of her shoulders...
